| This, in addition to the hefty visa fee of $140, is exactly why I don't care to visit that place. |

Different prices for different nationalities.
So when are you guys going over? This Summer? For the Olympics? Did you need to make hotel reservations or have airfare already to get the visas?
I'd like to take a one-way boat over in August, and another one-way boat back bought over there. Wonder if it's possible. |

Due to a lack of document, my daughter has yet to get a homeland entry card (she has HK citizenship amongst other things...).. and we are going to China for a quickie before the Olympics set in. I was able to get her one without any hassle.
I guess my case doesn't really count because she's half Chinese... |

It really is getting harder.

| There are still reports about successful applicants of 6 month and 1 year multiple entry F visas, however, none of them could be verified or tracked down to the reasons. |
Okay, so I guess I'm one of those lucky few, then. I have a full-year multiple entry F visa. But I have an invitation letter straight from the foreign legal representative of a major company. However, as opposed to my last business visa, this one is capped at 90 days for maximum duration of stay. So I have to leave the country at some point this summer and return.
However, the tight restrictions will probably be loosened a bit after the Olympics. I do not think they will be back to full, liberal, pre-Olympics levels, but I do not think these present kinds of restrictions are sustainable. |

Thanks for that.

What we know for sure:
Since mid-April, additional documents need to be provided to obtain L and F visas:
L (tourist) visa: Outbound and return flight booking and stamped (chopped) hotel reservation for the complete duration of stay. If staying at a relative's house, proof of kinship (marriage / birth certificate) and copies of his/her passport, visa, residence permit and police registration need to be provided.
|
I guess that is pretty much it. Well, looks like I can't stay at friends' house if they aren't 'kin' either. Messed up. Nice China. Way to welcome the interntional community for giving you such an event. |

Really you're Chinese? Funny, you've never mentioned it before. |
