Today was disgusting. The humidity and heat, combined with the pollution and sewage smell was almost too much to handle. This is a nasty, dirty, wet kind of heat like I am not used to.

I am in the the southern part of Korea. How much worse does this heat get? Does it get a lot hotter? When will it cool down again?

humidity's especially worse because it's monsoon season. Give it another 2-3 weeks then the summer will really hit. Humidity will be a bit more reasonable, but you can look forward to 열대야(熱大(?)夜) (I think that's the right 대? not sure).. where avg nighttime temperatures stay above.. what is it, 25? 30? degrees. Thats when all of Korea camps out in verandas, eats watermelons by the tons, and uses up so much electricity that blackouts become a common thing.
I'm exaggerating here, of course, but not by much. Temps will stay around 25-32 for another month and a half though..

After the middle of Sept the heat recedes considerably Smile

Korea's humidity is not so bad...especially near the coastal areas.

Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan have the worst humidity..also Singapore.

Where do you live that the humidity in the monsoon season (as in right now) is not so bad ? .... I don't find the actual temperatuure generally to be particularly high ... I don't actually feel hot (And it is much lower than I am used to) but the actual humidity level out of an airconditioned room is something else altogether. I found Singapore to be fairly similar to here in terms of humidity.

Yesterday down here in Gwangju it was 91, but taking into account the humidity it was 96.

I felt really sorry for those in Daegu. 101, 107 with the humidity.

Yesterday at school the air con in the teacher's room went on for the first time & 2 different people came in through the day dispersing iced coffee slushies & mango icecreams to all. Can't complain.

This weather is the same as where I come from but back home all the shops, pubs & cafes are air conned, not to mention every classroom at school. I can also go out wearing shorts & a singlet unlike here where I'm stuck wearing those stupid little cardis over my singlets.

Glad I bought a bike though, a 10 minute ride to school beats a 20 minute slog in this weather.

Live in a country where electricity costs about as much as your rent...Puerto Rico. At least there it's steady year-round and you get acclimitized to it.

last year my highest electricity bill using my air-conditioning whenever I wanted to was 37,000. Just got my first bill of the year with a cut off date of June 22 and the bill was a whopping 15,000!

This may be off topic, but for those who have been in Korea longer than a year has the temperature been on the rise over your stay?

I'm accustomed to 90+ degree weather for an extended amount of time (100 days or so), so I'm curious to know if this kind of weather is becoming the norm for Korea or if it's a random event. On the other side has winter (for those who have experienced in Korea) gotten shorter, not as cold, etc. ?

monsoon season......what monsoon season.

It rained for 2 days when the koreans said 'Its monsoon season now, it will rain for one month"

My ass! it hasnt rained since then. Someone needs to pay more attention to that electronic dictionary translation of what a monsoon season is....

As for the heat - *beep* me its hot!
