You think bringing a spouse to Korea is difficult, just try being an American and bringing a foreign-born spouse to the States...even on a tourist visa!! MINIMUM $500 and that's only to apply...no guarantee that it will be accepted! |

I did it 10 years ago. I do not remember it being too bad. I guess the rules have changed. We are currently trying to sponsor my wife's friend through the in-home caregiver program. We are hitting a few snags.
I guess if you are not from Afghanistan, Pakhistan, China or some other godforsaken shit hole in the world they won't let you in. If you are some poor beggar from wherever, they let you in give you welfare, let all your relatives in, free healthcare, the list goes on and on. But someone honest and hardworking with people willing to take care of them, no, those people are undesirable. *beep* it. Canadian immigration is full of shit. Screw them. I am just glad I was born here and my kids were born here.
It may not be politically correct to say all of the above but I do not give a shit. Feel free to flame away. I welcome any comments, I have been called a redneck and I live in Alberta so I have heard it all before. Go for it!! |

op,
We just received my wife's visa (documents and visa in the passport) from the embassy today. We sent them off on March 28th, so it took just over two months. Good luck to you.
They unfortunately sent back the pictures that document our relationship. |

You can get some good advice (that is current) here:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/canadian_immigration/
It a bit of a pain doing the paperwork but it really isn't that hard (just make sure you cross the "t"s and dot the "i"s. 2-6 months start to finish.
It is a lot easier for Canuks than it is for the Americans.

Why would it be unfortunate that they sent back your photos? They are supposed to return them to you after they have "documented your relationship".
Enjoy the flight. |

I'm doing it now as well.
The Canadian forms seem all pretty easy. Filled that all out and ready to go. WHat's killing me is that my wife lived in England for 2 years so we have to get a crim. check from them. Sent that off about 5 weeks ago and they have answered yet.
Question about Canadian form. What did you supply for "proof that you intend to live solely in Canada"?? They mention a job offer, accpetance to school, rental agreement, or "Other prood". Right now all I've got is my Korean work contract that shows the finish date in November. Should be kosher, non? |

That's what I did. I sent a copy of my contract and highlighted the end date. I also sent them a copy of my daughter's Canadian passport that expires in January of next year and said I want to enter Canada before that date.

Because they are some of the worst photos I have. We sent them the rejects from over the years. |

How many photos did you send. We have about a dozen that goes from our dating through to the wedding. Should there be more? |

A dozen is enough. We sent nine. Three from when we were dating, two from when my parents came to Korea and met my wife's parents, two from our engagement party in Canada, and two from our wedding.
We loosely stuck them to a piece of A4 paper and then labelled them and referenced the question they refer to. |
