I have a week off in July, I want to go somewhere nice for most of the week. Only thing is I am new to the area. I have heard that Thailand is too hot, and that a lot of other places are in monsoon around the end of July. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money on tickets or general touristy stuff, but am really stuck on where to begin. I would love if anyone could recomend a package/place.

thanks in advance,

Consider Taipei. It's fairly close, and flights tend to be reasonable. It's a terrific city, but it tends to be overlooked as people flock to Bangkok, Shanghai, Beijing, and other parts of Asia. There's a lot to do there, and the flights are rarely booked. It's one of my favorite cities in Asia.
