I'm making my first trip to Busan this long weekend and I need to find a cheap hotel. I made a reservation with Blue Backpackers about a month ago, which they confirmed, but I just got an e-mail saying they have to cancel my reservation because they have a large group staying there this weekend.
I realize it'll be busy this weekend, so what are the best areas to head to in order to find a cheap (preferably no more than 40,000 won), foreigner-friendly (I can read Hangeul, but I only speak a few words of Korean), bare bones hotel (just need a bed, preferably a single room)? I won't be heading to the bars so I don't need to be in the entertainment districts.
Thank you |

| There's a sand festival at Haeundae beach, not sure if it's true but people are saying the hotels there are offering discounted rates as part of the festival. |

| lots of reasonably priced places to stay around busan station and nampo-dong. if you're headed there for haeundae beach, they're way too far though. |

I use
www.hotelwide.com
and they have english speaking capable reps. deep or corporate discounts on most hotels.
But for a 40,000 price range, you will only find a MOTEL, near haeundae, even the motels are over 60,000.
There is an awesome motel i mostly stay in, but i can't remember the name of it, i just know how to get there. Awesome large room with big tv, internet, large bathroom for only 40,000.
Sorry. |

| There's a million motels at Haeundae, some as low as 20,000, though probably not on a holiday weekend. My first time in Busan, I reserved a room via the tourist info office at Busan Station, it was a standard 30,000 won love motel type at Haeundae. The other times I've been to Busan, I found something on my own, never more than 30,000. I'd recommend using the tourist info office at Busan station, only because its a holiday weekend. |

Try the Santa Fe. It is around 60000W. It is right down from Haeundae.
If you turn left at the Sea Cloud hotel and walk away from the beach you will find it, along with about 50 other places. |

Hey guys, thanks for all your help.
Qwerty, I didn't even realize that Toyoko had any hotels in Korea - I thought they were only in Japan. I've used them there and they're great so I just made a reservation at that one. It beats wandering around Busan on a long weekend looking for a hotel with my 12 word Korean vocabulary.
Thanks a lot. |
