I don't know why so many posters hate him. Do you prefer to government of Noh? Remember it was the Noh government that made your visas so hard to obtain, and who dragged down the economy.
Lee Myung Bak is very well educated and is a man of vision. |

2MB was plagued by corruption scandals before becoming President. He came up with some rather idiotic ideas that he had to backtrack on. His stupidest idea is the grand canal across Korea which he still wants to do. He's a poor communicator. He doesn't try to get people to try to agree with him. He just tells people what is going to happen. He is not a good politician.
Plus his eyes are messed up. |

Very similar to MOST of the people in charge here in Korea. Seems to be the way things work from the top down. |

I mentioned his name in class today (in an attempt to define the word "government"). The reaction was as if I'd casually tossed in an aside about fucking a grandmother. If middle school students are anything to go by, the guy should be sending his CV out ASAP. |

Are you a Korean citizen? If not, your voice doesn't matter. If you are on an E-2 visa, I believe you are breaking visa law by even writing this post! |

If you support LMB you are one of only 22% of Koreans. Such a low rating is a major accomplishment in only 100 days.
Here's a decent summary of the problem by a Korean writer:
Can God Save Mr. Bulldozer?

2MB never had a chance. The Korean populace has been educated using left wing text books over the past 30 years (the subject of a lot of discussion over the past 2 months) and when the left wing started railing against 2MB people jumped on board. The original media reports about American beef were one-sided and full of misinformation. Now they are starting to include actual facts, but it is too late. The Koreans are full of emotion and have their chests all puffed up and we know what happens when they do that.
The fact is that Roh screwed up Korea. The people voted in 2MB because he could fix what Roh messed up and he deserved a chance to implement some changes. However, he was never given a chance as the left started attacking him and the media assisted by reporting half-truths and lies. That being said 2MB f'd up the original beef negotiation, but is trying to rectify that mistake. However, he can't do it because the left is manipulating the public. He has to do it because it is the right thing to do and from a position of power. He has not been allowed to do this and it will only hurt Korea in the long run. If Koreans want to be pissed at 2MB there are some good reasons like the privatization of KWater, the rail system, and health care, a low won that is causing soaring gas prices, and the grand canal plan. However, cutting the presidents legs out from under him only makes him weaker internationally and allows the left a chance to come to power again and we all saw how that went under DJ and Roh. I am sure the North is loving this. Soon the will have one of their puppets back in power in the South. When will people learn????? |

No, but since they warned of the trouble that would come from electing 2MB one has to wonder...why all the trouble over freaking beef? Roh and DJ did far worse things than 2MB has done, yet there were no serious protests. And they will be loving this because if this keeps up there will be another left wing, North Korean puppet in office to further weaken the South. Dissent does not equal treason, but the left in this country has had some pretty terrible policies in place that have weakened the South's defence and economy all the while aiding the North. Not treason, but the North will be loving this. |

My adult students don't like him, neither do my high school kids. I've personally spoken to one Korean who said they liked him. |

I also like him much more than Noh. I think the canal dream is idiotic and I'm fearful of what zany schemes he may come up with for education, but all in all I think he's the right guy for the job. |

2MB knows what Korea needs to do to succeed and compete against China and Japan.
Koreans hate him beceause he is trying to change the status quo and move Korea into the 21st century.
They can't see past their nose to understand what needs to happen in this country. |

I certainly don't support him. He's a chaebol man. he'll do whatever Hyundai and Samsung want.
He will allow korea to become a two-tier economy. One economy for the rich. Another for the poor. |
