|
|
Hi,
I would like to travel to China after the Olympic Games. I understand that you must now get your Chinese Tourist Visa from one of the listed recommended Travel Agents (I have the list) which are ALL(?) in Seoul.
Has anyone out there dealt with any of these and could you recommend one?
My situation is a little more complicated in that I work in Daegu and will not have the time to go to Seoul. I would appreciate if anyone could answer ANY of the following queries.
1. How safe would it be to send a passport and paperwork registered courier to Travel Agent in Seoul?
2. Would I need exit air ticket?
3. Would I need hotel booking proof? (How many days?)
4. Would I need any other paperwork? (I am Australian and do not need express service)
5. Are there any travel agents in Daegu who are connected to the Seoul recommended travel agent list?
6. Would the fact that I want to go AFTER the Olympics, mean that my visa application, paperwork and passport get thrown to the bottom of the pile!!
Thanks, Any comments welcomed. |

Go with Jongho from SoHo Travel. I just popped in on a Saturday, filled out a form, and picked up with visa the next Saturday. I'm going right around the tail end of the Olympics. I didn't have a flight or hotel or anything either.
Granted, its a little pricey for Americans (but that's the embassy's fault, not the travel agents) . . .
Anyhow, I highly recommend Jongho. Good luck!

Ah, I just re-read your post and noticed that you're in Daegu. I still might call Jongho and see if you could do it via mail. Or just make the trip up to Seoul one weekend. Best of luck to ya . .. |

I'm also based outside Seoul, and I'm heading to Beijing in July. Jongho is arranging my flights and visa, and he said it was ok to send my visa documents via courier.
All he asked for is my passport, copy of my ARC and 1 passport photo. I'm South African, so the visa will cost 50,000 won. |

That's not true. I also live in Daegu and I recently applied to get my Chinese Tourist Visa via a travel agency in Daegu. |

Hi,
Thanks everybody for advice on visa to China. I have just looked at the Lonely Planet- Thorn Tree sticky on China Visa Hassles (63 pages!!)
I have decided that it is all too hard with exit tickets, pre-booked accommodation and probably not being able to go where I want anyway because of Tibet/earthquake/Olympics hassles.(ie- north west and silk road)
I have decided to go Vietnam instead. So I guess now I need reliable Travel Agent in Daegu to arrange Vietnam Visa.
Anyone know of one either email or street address? Also would they charge me a lot more for arranging the visa if I am not going to buy an air ticket?
Thanks |
