I have noticed that there are a few posters who have mentioned that Korvia have charged a recruitment fee. They are currently in the process of sorting out a position for me I am from South Africa and I just wondered if there was any truth in the rumour. Can anyone shed any light on this issue before I walk too far down the road with them?

hello, it's complete and utter nonsense, unless they have totally changed since May 07 when I got my first job with them.

I highly doubt they charge fees. Please send them an email asking this question and post the answer on here.

Korvia charges people to find them a job? Don't be dumb and pay them a cent. They get paid from the employer that hires you. Why give them more money?

Exactly so, and there seems to be no solid proof that Korvia charge FT's for their placement. Point is then why start the rumour, it does nothing to enhance the reputation of one of the only honest recruiters in Korea.

Well trailrunner, if you post a positive word about a recruiter, you must be one of the following:

• that recruiter's sock;
• another recruiter;
• some other sort of quisling.

No Utvideam, just a person who has been helped beyond my wildest dreams by someone who has shown a professional attitude towards conducting their business. This was initially no way intended to punt the business of any particular recruitment agency.

I was merely concerned by the accusations posted by people that seemed to in actual fact have a motive of their own. I will bow to the warning provided by wylies99 and garykasparov should proof of the accusations be provided, in the meantime I think what they are doing is unethical and in fact quite unfair and potentially dangerous. If they wish to hold the moral high ground which is what they in fact seem to be attempting to do by warning others of what is in itself an unethical practice, then it is quite simple produce the proof or apologise for the falsity that was put forward. Otherwise in my eyes they are little better then the unscrupulous that they accuse.

The attitude I was mocking in my previous post accurately reflects that of way too many people on this forum, unfortunately.

No problem Utvideam, sadly it is usually through such ignorance that those who make these sweeping statements with no evidence that are the cause for so much disharmony in our world.

Bassexpander I fully agree, and whilst many recruiters may be dishonest I think we need to be weary of blanket assumptions in any form. I also think that whilst so much effort is put into the negativity aimed at the unscrupulous, we should also support and appreciate those who are prepared to go the extra mile.

I contacted KorVia, they never asked me for any money. I decided to just take my documents to the Korean Consulate here in Boston. It was way easier.
