From what I have found in my research the programs like Epik seem like you will get less pay but also gives you the peace of mind that you wont be getting screwed over, that there is a legitimate organization behind your job. Is Epik and such the way to go, or is it better to try and use a recruiter and find a specific job that you want.

And in reference to the "PAY" issue... yes and NO.

They have a smaller "BASE" pay for a newbie with no experience
BUT the salary per TEACHING HOUR works out the same

AND

when you add in the extras the pay ends up the same as or greater than working at a hakwon AND you are assured of your pay, benefits AND you get more vacation time.

Just my humble opinion.

Based on what I have observed a great many times, it is better to apply to EPIK or GEPIK via a recruiter like Work and Play. You get a lot more support and the chance of you getting placed in the city you requested is much higher.

SMOE is better if you want to work and live in Seoul. With GEPIK and EPIK it really depends on what city you are placed in and your school Principle or VP.
