How does this work then?

If you don't want to go home and the boss buys a ticket in his/her name. How do you manage to cash it in?

If the boss buys a ticket in his/her name, you wouldn't be able to fly on it.

If you want to cash it in, you have to make sure they don't buy a non-refundable ticket. The best way to actually do it is book it yourself, pay yourself, get re-imbursed, then cancel and get your money back from the airline.
