If you ever want to get yourself heard, burn yourself alive. This is starting to become more widespread and I wonder why people would ever put themselves through this.

I remember the other event when I guy set himself alight at a protest about the compensation the Government had laid out. If you are feeling betrayed by the Government, your Hagwon or any adjushi just set yourself alight and make sure you have a something written down and placed far away from you so the cops can read it and best of all good luck when you try to BBQ yourself alive.

Man Sets Himself on Fire After Candlelight Vigil

A South Korean man set himself on fire early Thursday morning following a candlelight rally in central Seoul against the resumption of U.S. beef imports. Police said the 56-year-old, identified only by Kim, is in critical condition with severe burns to his body.

Witnesses said Kim poured inflammable liquid onto his body and set him afire with a lighter at around 2: 40 a.m.

Yonhap News Agency said he seemed to be disgruntled with the government's compensation policy for his evacuated residence in Seoul.
Police said the man called up authorities and handed his identity card to protestors minutes before his action.

Kim, a day laborer, had reportedly been joining daily candlelight vigils, which have recently turned into anti-government protests.

If you're stupid enough to light yourself on fire, you deserve what you get. That's one of the stupidest forms of protest out there. You end up screwing yourself over WAY worse than whatever it is you're protesting could've ever done.

The logic behind the story...

'USA Beef WILL kill you"

"Inflammable liquids will burn you"

so it is safer to set yourself on fire than to eat US Beef ?

Probably similar to suicide bombers. 56-year-old day-laborer. Perhaps he was drunk. Suicidal. Depressed. This situation made him think he'd make his death meaningful.

Well then again...

How jaded and cynical does one have to be that that ISN'T a moment to stop peddling their bicycle at? I've seen some interesting stuff, but I'd definitely stop at a self-immolation.. whether it be a monk in 1963 in Saigon or a 56 year old drunk in 2008 in Seoul.

It's one thing to burn yourself to death.

Quite another to survive, and live with the pain, disfigurement and regret for the rest of your life. You'd feel kind of stupid.

On the upside, he could probably find a niche in the protest rent-a-crowd business.
