I know Costco has a lot of stuff, and some of the big grocery chains have a few assorted items. However, are there any other stores that specialize in foreign foods, especially Mexican and Thai stuff.

Not too many places in Daejeon for international foods. In addition to the usual places (Costco, Home-Plus, etc) you can also check out EXPO Core. For fresh ingredients I usually shop at either of the 2 agricultural markets. One is over behind world cup stadium and the other by Han-Bat Bridge. Also. near Han Bat bridge there are quite alot of food wholesale places where you can occassionally pick up a goodie of two (I'll be expensive though).
What I have ended up doing, for the most part, I make my own stuff. You can buy rew wheat/corn and have it custom ground for making taco tortillas. Corriander can be had dried. Fresh is hit and miss but avaliable. I recommend the recipe site Epicurious.com. They have thousands of recipies and ingredients can be substituted with abit of imagination. |
