But only employers can get them to verify degrees ... Individual people can't apply for it on their own - the request has to come from the employer |

The OP is aware of who can verify the degree. She has been here since Jul 09, 2007. |
If she knew the answer why would she ask the question ? |

Thanks, icicle. I have better things to do than post questions on this forum when I already know the answer! |

Are we talking about verifying degrees from within Korea or from other countries? |

Doesn't matter. The Korean Council for University Education has been tasked with verifying overseas degrees as well as domestic ones.
In the case of an overseas degree, they provide a form asking you to list your contact info, the university's contact information, and your degree information (date of degree, major, etc.). They also provide a release form where you agree to allow them to "investigate" (their word) the veracity of your degree. |

For the KCUE you'll need four things...and yes, your employer will need to initiate this process for you. Your employer can also perform this process via email with the KCUE.
1. Scanned copy of your original diploma
2. Release letter--signed, scanned
3. Excel informational file
4. Payment--I believe it's 20,000 won per request, not positive though as my employer is paying these costs for our employees...this process can also take as much as four weeks time for the KCUE to respond with verification.
If you'd like PM me and I can email you copies of the release letter and informational excel file. |

I went through this process in March, and I had to handover original or Korean embassy notarized copies. It took one week for me. |

Actually...it just might be a possibility.
Currently...I have two teachers coming to our school in July.
They have never taught in Korea, thus, they have never previously held an E2 visa.
After some haggling with Korean Immigration...and it may well be because my director does have some "ties" with an official in Suwon...our two new applicants had their interview requirement waived.
I don't think this is the blanket policy by any means...as is the case with most instances with Korean Immigration...it probably is case-by-case.
However...you just might get lucky if you can prove...and have your sponsor prove...that the interview requirement is not possible or plausible...as it states in Immigration regulations.
You might get lucky...it doesn't hurt to try...but don't simply expect this kind of scenario. Have your boss pull for you as hard as he/she can...who knows what may happen. |

My post isn't out of left field really...I think somebody just deleted their post about whether or not their interview could be waived.
If you're still out there...I hope it works out. |
