I've just been preping up some lesson slides using PowerPoint and the particular unit I'm working on deals with themes associated with money (shopping etc) so I've put some images of US/UK bills/bank notes onto my slides along with the coins used in both countries.

Whilst posting up images of UK pounds I thought it might be interesting to mention some of historical figures (greyscale indicates those that have already been used) that have appeared on different denominations over the years. When doing the same with US bills, it occurred to me that the US only uses (dead) Presidents and wandered which of your own important national figures (past or present) you'd deem worthy of being incorporated onto your bank notes.

This would be my choice:

I'll be in my cold cold grave when Bono is put on a fiver.

I however will be rooting for a tenner with Wayne Rooney on very very soon.

Franklin and Hamilton are indeed dead, but they were never presidents.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance. I assumed they were all deceased Presidents.

It's a common mistake... no worries. Franklin didn't want all the extra work, 'cause he already had so much of his own going on. He was pretty much offered the presidency and turned it down. Just one more reason why Ben is My Boy!

Shameless Hero Promotion: "He who would sacrifice essential liberties to obtain a little temporary safety deserves neither liberty nor safety." Ben 4 Prez!

Question Please link to something that supports your claim.

There wasn't even a presidency until the Constitution was ratified in 1788 at which time he was 82 years old and sick. He died two years later. Had he been several decades younger he might have had a shot at the job.

No, no candidates except maybe for bringing back the Indian head nickel. I'm happy with the faces we have. If we were to change, every group in the country would start campaigning and just stir things up. While I'm at it, I don't want the color, design or size changed either.
