|
|
Sounds like they are expecting 1 million clueless people out there in Gwanghwamun for the rally tonight. June 10th is the anniversary of the the big protests back in 1987 that led to the direct presidential elections, something that actually matters.
Anyways, I am really thinking about heading out there with a big sign that says, " Mad Cow 1 in 1,000,000,000: Do you feel lucky?"
I think it might go over pretty well. |

You should have a big sign that says "Seek the Truth" in Korean. |

Yeah, I'm heading out there with my wife. We are going to have
an extremely steamy make-out session in a really busy and obvious
place.
Should be a blast. |

How about a sign that says
"You have a 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance of having mad cow, but I have a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of not getting my ass handed to me by some drunk... and I'm still down here!"

Are you serious?
I would like to go and check it out, but to be frank, I am scared of either being hauled away for protesting under an E2 visa (I'm sure it isn't allowed) or getting my ass kicked for being white.
I wish I could be a fly on the wall. |

I guess it's gonna be one hell of a massive high-octane ultra fight. I would not want to be anywhere near it. It's gonna be big.
On the question of rioting and protesting, regardless of the subject, I think it's good in a democracy to be able to do it.
When I lived in Budapest there was always guaranteed to be demos and riots every Hungarian National Day. Without fail it'd be a massive thing. To the point that the police were getting so good that they'd got a strategy. It looked terrible on the news. I went there to the affected area the next day to see bodies, burnt out cars etc and there was..............nothing! They'd hosed down all the streets good as new. You'd never have known that there'd been trouble the previous night. |

Have you always had self-destructive tendencies or is this something new? |

I am not actually going out there, you gotta be there 10 hours early to get a good seat for the action anyways. I shall stay home and watch it unfold on MBC, SBS and KBS, the only place to find fair and balanced journalism outside of Fox News. |

I think I realised just how big it was probably going to be when I went onto the Australian embassy website and it said that the embassy was closing from 2pm this afternoon because of it ..
But since it started that part of town has been off my itinerary ... Because you don't want to get stuck in the middle of it ... when it turns ... And with that many people in one place ... it will be an even bigger risk than normal ...
The TV and Internet are close enough to it for me |

Any bets on how many "flamers" there will be? I say 2.
I think having candles and soju in close proximity is a high fire hazard anyways. |
