Is the feeling amongst people that have been here a while. It seems standard now that all the contracts I receive have only 14 days for the year (vs the private school's 10). I have heard many people saying that a couple of years ago they were receiving 2 weeks in both winter and summer.

Any thoughts?

it was standard in 2002 for hagwons to give one week in summer and one week in winter, and it's the standard today, unless there's change a brewing

anyone who has had more than that has it better than average

By private schools I assume you meant hakwon (and not a private grade school). 10 days is pretty standard (and what was required as a minimum by law).

Public schools:
14 WORKING days is 1 work day short of 3 weeks and is the standard.

If you are in a rural designated school you get an additional 5 working days = 4 weeks total paid vacation.

IF you renew you get an additional 2 calendar weeks.

This brings the total to somewhere between 5 and 6 weeks of contracted vacation + extra days off for special days.

You teach in a hagwon? Expect a hogwan to cheat you even before you sign the contract.

Note the use of the past tense.....

The old law was:
Article 59 (Annual Paid Leave)
(1) An employer shall grant 10 days leaves with pay to workers who have offered work without an absence throughout a year and 8 days leaves with pay to those who have registered more than 90 percent of attendance during one year.

and the link to the current law:
Article 60
(1) An employer shall grant 15 days paid leave to worker who has registered more than 80 percent of attendance during one year.

<Amended by Act No. 6974, Sep. 15, 2003>
