Could someone recommend a nice beach area in Korea? This does not mean that the beach has to be a sandy beach. I just want to go to a nice area on either coast which is not crowded.

I was in Samcheok last weekend, there's a bunch of pretty nice beaches nearby. The beaches were empty.

I love Deokchok-do, and Boryeong Beach (outside of mudfest).

If you are looking for secluded and don't mind there being little to do but lay on the beach, then Jumunjin is nice.

Jeongdongjin is great but may be crowded.

If you are going to a beach in Korea, go soon. When official beach season starts they get real busy. I've been to beaches in May, June and Sep. (not beach season) and they are empty, even though the weather has been gorgeous. Went in July, during official season, the weather was a bit too hot and humid, but the beach was packed solid

either?

The best coast for beaches is the SOUTH coast.

This post is stunningly misleading.

Yes, on several of the most crowded busy beaches there are a lot of soju bottles and wrappers in the sand.

No, on the hundreds of nicest beaches the water itself is not dirty and garbage left on the sand is minimal to nonexistant.

I have swam at Korean beaches for years, from coast to coast to coast to islands galore and I have been impressed at the lack of "dirty"(read: garbage) at all but the most crowded party beaches.
