|

I started doing an overtime class at my gepik school just a few weeks after I started my contract in May. It's a 40-session class that ends in July. In May, I wasn't paid for the overtime hours that I worked that month. I asked my 'handler' why and she said they may wait until I finish the class in July, and pay me on July 25th, but she wasn't sure. Still hasn't gotten back to me on that.
I looked in my contract and didn't see anything specific about when I should be paid for overtime... but since I had extra hours in May it seems like I shouldn't been paid then, and I'm tempted to ask for both May and June's overtime pay this month. What's the standard thing in this situation? Any opinions? |

I started my afterschool classes in April - also under GEPIC - and was told recently that I won't get paid for them until the semester is over (I think the first week in July.)
The pay schedule for afterschool classes at my school has varied from year-to-year, but it's always been separate from regular pay - and more irregular.
This is the first year I've had to wait three months to get paid, though. |

They'll probably wait until the end of the 40-class session before you get paid. I had similar problems with pay at my school, and I eventually got (underpaid) a month after my 20-class session ended. The excuse was that the school had to collect the money from the parents.
This probably won't make you feel any better, but here's a thread about my experience with trying to get paid for my afterschool classes. Let's just say it didn't end well, and is an ongoing issue.

But, on the bright side, a lot of people posted some really interesting stuff on their experiences, so check it out. |

Thanks... someone on that thread claimed that it's written into the GEPIK contract that overtime is paid at the end of the month... I've looked over mine and haven't found that clause... did I miss it? If it's true, can someone point that out where it is in the contract? It'd be helpful to be able to show it to my school... I looked all my contract though and didn't see it, so I don't know... |

| I didn't see that clause either, but I think some people might be on slightly older/different contracts than my dirt standard one. |

| When you do a block section of OT teaching at a public school, it's very common to be paid at the end of the session, not monthly. Even in my regular OT classes, I get paid every 3 months. |
