You know, I was thinking today when someone might write a North East Asia TEFL'ers hand book evaluating the Big 3.

Korean Teacher - Says it's a better deal - no rent/free air fare.

Taiwan Teacher - Says Korea sucks and they save more money in a nicer climate with more relaxed Tawianese and less xenophobia.

Japan - more advanced than either Tawiwan or Korea, more money to be made than anywhere else in the world, particularly if you're working in Tokyo. And really, really cool culture.

Do you think we always tend to believe that we have the best overall arrangement because it's the one we got - the one we're faced with every day...That we cannot bear to think that some other EFL'er has it better than ourselves in Pusan, Fukuoka, or Taipei?

Or some think that they always have it the worst. Depends on the personality.

i chose korea because they paid all airfare and apartment fees at the time. taiwan seldom pays airfare but sometimes subsidizes apartments. japan usually pays airfare, but charges a lot for apartments. korea was the easiest as far as having everything paid up front. at the same time, the culture can be more challenging than the others.

Do you really think the information in a book would stay timely enough? Things change pretty quickly. I've noticed a big change in the job market in Korea in the last 15 months.

Maybe an e-book that you charge a couple of bucks for.
