Anyone have any experience removing an air-con and taking it to a new apartment? How much does it cost?

take a look on the aircon for a service number. they should be able to take it out of your old place and install it in your new place for around 100 000 won (as long as your not moving too far)

That true for re-installations, too? In the same apartment, I mean. Mine was installed two summers ago, but the unit wasn't placed outside. It was placed in my veranda, which pretty much makes the veranda unusable in the summer because it is now a hotbox. I tolerated it for one summer, but now I use my veranda for storage. I have to get it re-installed for sure this summer.

Couldn't they have put it on the railing outside or on the roof like normal people?

Same thread - different question. When buying a new air-con, is the installation included in the price or is it extra?

youngfrank:

i'm not sure how much a re-install is. i had 2 choices for where to put the external aircon unit. i could either place it outside my window on an angle(support bracket) or put it on the roof of my building. the angle option costs 120 000 and the roof option depended on how many meters of piping i would need to get the unit to my roof. the piping usually costs 12 000 a meter. you would probably have to pay 30 000 on top of that for labor. i chose the angle, because the aircon will be easier to move or sell after i'm done with it and i needed 16 meters to get the unit to my roof.

i bought my aircon online so i'm not sure about instore purchases. i had the option of purchasing an aircon with installation included or not included. i chose to have the installation included. that meant that i received 5 meters of piping and labor for around 40 000 more. i ended up paying extra on top of that because i had to have an angle installed.
