"The F-4 visa allows you to live and work in Korea much like a native. The visa is renewable every two years, and you dont have to change your visa if you change jobs."

My father is Korean and I've lived in Korea for 5 years when I was younger, so I don't know if that makes it any easier to get F4..

what are the benefits of F4? and I'm assuming many gyopos work in F4?
do they handle you differently from a person who has an E2?

thanks!

You are in control of your F-visa, not the school.
There is no LOR needed if you bail on a 'contract'.
You also don't need to jump through all the hoops other foreigners need to at immigration.

The visa itself is great. Get it, you won't regret it.

finding a job as a "gyopo" might be a little more interesting for you though.

Do you still need a CRC check if you`re an F visa holder?

If the school requires it then you must fulfill their guidelines. As far as immigration is concerned the CRC was and is exclusively for E2 visa holders, plus whomever they have added since the rule went into effect. As an F2-1 and a F5 visa holder we fall under different rules due to the visa status. I would assume the F4 visa holders would also have this apply to them. The CRC is done as part of the F2-1 and the F5 because it gives the holder greater freedoms, thus they want to make sure the holder does not have a criminal record. (At least this is the way it was explained to me when I received both the F2-1 and the F5 visa.) Others may have other information based on what they were told, but this is my experience with the visa application situation. For my F5 visa the CRC was done by immigration, and at no cost to me personally.

Recent job interview:

"The 40,000w an hour is for the "Native Teachers." You are a gyopo so the going rate is 30,000w."

Seriously. I laughed in their face and thanked them for wasting my time.
