|

I am in a bit of a conundrum, basically I drove up to DC then to New York for my visa interview, but my issuance number has been taking forever in arriving (well over the week I was promised). My flight leaves for Korea this Sunday, if I don't have the visa by then I will just enter on a tourist stamp, but can I have a visa interview at a Korean consulate in Japan if I have never held an E2 visa before?
My flight actually goes through Tokyo, perhaps I could just "forget" to catch the connecting flight so I don't have to bother coming back to Japan. Else if I have the interview Friday but they don't have the visa ready, should I have it express mailed to somewhere in Japan, say the US embassy, where I can pick it up stick it in my passport then enter Korea? |

First, you CANNOT travel anywhere without your passport so mailing it to yourself if NOT an option.
Officially, you cannot have your E2 interview in a 3rd country.
You should hope that the embassy/consulate will expedite your visa for you or you will miss your flight. |

Okay, thanks. I meant them mailing me the visa not affixed to my passport (this would be a convenient time to have dual citizenship...) if that is possible. I heard that I wouldn't be able to do the application in Japan, but does anyone know if there are exceptions to this? |
