OK.....now we can say that we have had our first "real" yellow dust storm of the year.

Looking outside you can tell. It hit 1059 during the night in Seoul!!

Take a look this morning...jeez.
Since I walk pretty far everyday, I better go to the pharmacy and buy a mask or two. What do we have a month or two of this?

In a word, 'No.'

Actually, this is pretty late for 'yellow dust'. It's usually over by now. To be honest, this is the best 'yellow dust season' we've had in years. It was supposed to be really bad this year, but we only had a couple of days where it spiked.

Though it did hit 1059 at 6 am this morning, it's dropping fast. It's currently at 577, and dropping. Hopefully it won't last too long, but if you're out and about this morning, a mask wouldn't be a bad idea...

This site has up to date air quality reports for the whole country.

Today seems to be particularly bad.

How ironic that mad cow protestors are sitting outside chanting about the one in a million chance of mad cow disease while they breathe in disgusting toxic air.

We're all gonna die i tell ye, we're all gonna die!

It's 3 o'clock and sprinkling. If it rains enough, that should take care of it.

Countdown for VanIslander to come on here and brag about how clear and blue the skies are down where he is in (Geojae? Namhae?):

I feel like I'm looking through yellow-colored-classes. Shows only the dirty, and it hides all the ... uhm... oxygen particles?

After another mid afternoon spike, it's back down to 264 in Seoul. However, looking at this Korean site ( http://www.kma.go.kr/dust/dust_01_01.jsp ), it would appear this 'yellow dust storm' is moving South East across Korea. If it hasn't hit you yet, it probably will soon... Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I would have said this is the worst yellow dust season we've had in years...

its summer in 2 days - getting hotter and can't open the classroom windows due to the yellow dust...

thats bad...

We were up in the purple today (OP's link). Worst I've seen in a long time. And yeah...this HAS been an easy year. I remember days and days of the stuff!

Brag? ... I assume those who *beep* and moan about the poor air quality in Seoul don't consider it a major factor in deciding where to live (jobs avaliable EVERYWHERE in this country).

It is IN FACT a blue, blue sky today. And I'm sure there are plenty of other Dave's posters who live in southernmost rural regions who also can look up today, Saturday and see a vibrant clear blue sky. (It's like with hagwons: those who have complaints are motivated to post, those who have it good are much less likely to mention it.)

I admit midweek it was bit hazy on the horizon. But today? BLUE!
