I've spent my last little while learning this formal Korean from the let's speak korean series, which is all good and all for getting things done. But what I'd really like to learn is how to make small talk and can't be bothered to dig through lessons for the words I'm looking for.

I had made a nice little word list of the absolute basic words I'm most likely to use , but it got lost in the muddle. I'm tired of bothering the girls in my office so I thought I'm put it to the forum.

I was hoping someone would invest a little of their sweet time to provide a translation in Hangul (i'm terrible at spelling in it) and maybe the english phonetic .I know most of these but for the sake of having the list on hand in case I forget , or anyone else is looking to learn. Obviously ignore in the case that their is no direct translation and adapt as necessary. I'll keep it short and people can add request and hopefully we'll get a good beginner lexicon going that'll see you by.

This list was clearly made in a rush , but it's based on a list I have used to get by in many other languages. Any suggestions are welcome and I'd really appreciate if folks could just fill out what they knew and it can be improved as we go along and have it under the fridge magnet by weeks end.

this is EXACTLY how i started learning korean. the list is pretty much identical. i'm too lazy to fill it out. it was only because i had a korean girlfriend at the time that i got somebody to fill my list out.

That's the best I can do for now. This is all straight out of my head. Some of the spellings might be wrong, but they're pretty close. Also, I left a lot out because of time restraints and because a lot of them don't exist directly in Korean, but they exist as transformations on base words "___ 다" (base form).

I may be a little off on some of the ones I did put down too, but like the OP I'm very much a beginner in need of learning so if you're interested in continuing this, you should use this as a template and build on it later in the thread.
