Visiting NK now would be akin to paying big dough to Hitler-era Germany while the holocaust was in full swing.
Just an op and not an attack,

Can't see the forrest for the trees?
NK is this century's Nazi Germany - in the holocaust inflicted upon its own people, to its threat to the world, to its embracing of eugenics, to is eccentric leader with a penchanct for weird music and kitsch art and debauchery.
"negligable" - hardly.

your zeal to join in on the jingoistic lets-bash-the-bad-guy-of-the-year-now-that-saddam-hussein-is-gone fun is interfering w/ your ability to reason.
NK is absolutely not this century's nazi germany. *no* *way*. get real. show me how thats possible. the suffering the regime is inflicting on its people is very serious, absolutely deplorable and is a human rights disaster. but then so is the regime of slow genocide inflicted on the palestinians by israel.
you have no concept of what the nazi holocaust was all about. the scale and intensity of the nazi holocaust is not what make it unique (to my knowledge, the largest and most intense genocide in human history is that of the slaughter of indigenous north and south americans). its uniqueness lies in its assembly line death factory aspect.
north korea is not engaged in that kind of murder.
north korea is not a threat to the world. show me how. as soon as north korea announced its desire to produce nuclear weapons russia and south korea publicly voiced skepticism that NK even has the ability to do that. they dont have the technological infrastructure, the money or the nuclear physicists. heres a link to the article where i read that: http://www.zmag.org/elich_korea.htm

Eugenics? how abotu their PURE BLOOD philosophy and zeal for it?
You've obviously a troll -and a nazi sympathizer. You defend a nation willing to sell nukes ot rogue nations and willing to use its nukes as up-front extortion - a nation that allow its "face" saving in light of Juche - to keep a despot in power and to let its people be enslaved, tortured, imprisoned and tarved.
Yeah - you've been schooled by Joe Thanks.
Give me proof of what you say. You want it you gotta give it.
Oh - you can't?
We're not talking Israel. get a life and stay to one point.
(I agree about Israel being a terrorist staight AS MUCH as Palestine - but that has NOTHING to do with the topic: NORTH KOREA)
Go back in your hole, troll.

hey guys,
I spent a little bit of time cleaning up this thread, can you be careful when using the quote fuction. As it can get confusing for people reading the thread.
To keep it simple just wrap the quote tags around the thread.
Code: |
[quote]this is what the preson who is writing the thread wrote[/quote] |
so it looks like this:
Quote: |
this is what the preson who is writing the thread wrote |
However if you want to show who wrote it then make sure you add quote marks with no spaces
Code: |
[quote="person who I am quoting"] is writing this[/quote] |
so it looks like this
person who I am quoting wrote: |
is writing this |

hi joe thanks
so you agree with me that you have no idea what you're talking about? great, now we're getting somewhere
the burden of proof is on the person making the outrageous claims. ie: if i claim that im a ten foot, 1200 ton purple frog and people dont believe me, its my job to convince them. its irrational for me to tell them they're stupid if they dont believe me. likewise w/ you. i see no evidence or sources of any NK "holocaust", eugenics program and danger it poses to the world cited by you. until you present such things your claims rest as the drunken-patriotic-folk-politics-bar-talk-with-the-guys- they are. |

I can see some of the similarities between Hitler and Kim Jong Il
* Both are ruthless
* Both have ambition
* Both kill many people to carry out their purposes
* Both are damn ugly
However, Kim Jong Il presents a neglible threat to humanity, he just wants regime survival. On the the other hand Hitler had real power and invaded many countries and tried to wipe out a race of people to achieve his goals. In 50 years time Kim Jong Il and the North Korean regime will be consigned to the history books as nothing more than a nation who caused a few problems like many have in the passed. Kim jong Il is a bit of a sicko attention seeker while Hitler wanted to literally rule the world |

very true but everything you say here is totally self-evident. like comparing jong-il to hitler doesnt even approach the level of stupidity especially considering the far more dangerous threats to peace in the world today. NK is an awful place and i want their brutal regime to end right now, but NK pales in comparison to other less-publicized - more like less sensationalized - brutal regimes in the world. in scale and in intensity NK is nothing like the regime israel is imposing on the palestinians, or that of the oppression inflicted on the kurds by turkey, or the military atrocities committed against people in colombia. what do these three countries have in common? all are major US allies and receive gigantic amounts of military aid, both in actual hardware and finances. anything colombia, israel and turkey do to its own people and its so-called "enemies" elicits not a grunt of protest from the american government, who supplies these horrible regimes with all the deadly, state-of-the-art weapons they want. NK commits its atrocities - none of which are military in nature - while the US is officially imposing a crushing oil and economic embargo against them. we should keep in mind that the suffering of the NK people is not 100% the fault of kim jong-il. if the US would end its embargoes the NK people would have at least some leeway. |

No, actually I know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. Unlike you, I am not a dictatorial sympathizer.
I see the NK threat to its own people clearly.
You do not.

It's interesting to see who can, and who cannot take criticism.
I agree with Ohahakhete. NK sucks, and I would hate to live there. But, to compare it to Nazi Germany, is rather ambitious. I must admit I haven't studied NK, but I do know about Nazi Germany. When Kim Jong Il starts erecting furnaces, employing gangs of executioners to roam the countryside with their mobile gassing facilities, attempts to destroy an entire race of people, and invades China, Korea, Japan, and Russia, then he will be comparable to Hitler.
Kim Jong Il, is more realistically comparable to Saddamn Hussein, Momosa(?) the leader of the Congo/Zaire, Taliban, etc. Not Hitler.
For another Hitler - think of Stalin (Who actually killed more people than Hitler), Pol Pot, and Milosevic (?).
(edited to spell your name right Ohahakhete - what does that mean btw?) |
