Sometimes you can get a more objective perspective when you are not part of the subject. After coming to Koriah, what have you realized about your own country???

Instead of thinking Canada had unreasonably high taxation rates, I realised that Canadians were moronic tards who loved high taxes and should have water cannon shoved up their collective arses.

You are welcome.

That I took freedom of expression for granted. That as much as I've complained about how American's don't have a culture -- at least we respect other cultures! Workmates at home never make you feel warm and fuzzy like they do in Korea (unless someone's trying to hit on you), but back home no one will even dare to ask you to do something that's blatantly outside of your contract and responsibilities. We're boring but we actually have something called WORK ETHIC!

I have realized that even in my little, conservative hick town, we have more diverse thought and ethnicity. It has also made me appreciate clean air and having a house with a yard a whole lot more. It has also showed me that many of the people back home would be considered "in fashion" here.

expensive parts of town LOOK like they should be expensive parts of town, or there is at least some rationale behind the high prices (like being close to the beach or something). unlike, say, gangnam or apgujeong

The people back home are ridiculously polite and nice.

That we take space for granted and I miss it.

An excellent thread. Korea in particular has shown me Canadians have their own myths and internal propeganda. You know Koreans run around talking about kimchi and its healing and life extension properties but Canadians have their own irrational food patriotisms, notably over beer.

To wit, you first go "how could Koreans possibly believe X?" and then you quickly realize "oh, it's kind of like how Canadian believe Y."
