Anyone ever lived here before, or know about it? My wife and I are considering GEPIK positions located here. Is it a good place to live?
Only thing we dont like is that it is a little on the smaller side and that we have to take a 15-20 min bus ride to get to Moran Station. The 3 room apt sounds pretty decent, but I'm just worried about the amenities the city has to offer....
Any of you experienced souls who have insight, thanks so much for your help! |

I lived in the next town over for a couple of years and liked it. Gwangju seemed okay, though very sprawling. If you're in Korea already, why not take a trip there and see whats around? |

Thanks for the help! What city did you live in? Yes, I heard it was spread out...are there a decent amount of westerners there?
I'd love to visit before I move, unfotunately, though, we are in the US presently, not Korea. |

Yeah, I lived there in 2002 when I came to Korea for the world cup. It's a decent town, you're a 25minute bus ride to Seoul, there's well, the same stuff you find all over Korea. I was teaching split shift at a Wonderland academy, so don't do that it's fairly miserable. But if you have a good gig it's probably a great place because you have easy Seoul access but it's cheaper. |

Which part of the city is the job in? I lived there last year and because it is relativey spread out - in the sense of being like a series of different towns with farmland etc in between specific area can make a bit of a difference. If Moran is the closest subway station to you I think that you may be in a similar part of the city to where I was. For me it was the closest station with a direct bus from where I was. People I met at open classes in different schools had direct buses to different stations and different things easily available to them. I am living in Seoul now so can give a reasonable comparison of the difference between the two. |

Thanks for the info and help!
As far as the area, we would be teaching at Tanbeol middle and elem school, able to walk to both from our apt. So, I think the City Hall, Civil Stadium, and Civil Court are also within walking distance...about 10 km or so from Moran station.
Would love to hear more if you lived in that area and compare it to Seoul...thanks again! Sorry, I would PM, but I dont have enough posts yet.. |
