Where I live I can sorta pick up the United States Forces Network on my car radio.

The reception varies from sorta okay to terrible.

How can I boost the power of my FM receiver in my car so I can receive a clear AFN signal.

I'm missing out on a lot of great poetry by not getting AFN, so this is important!

The ONLY way to improve reception is get a better, external or taller antenna.

You live a pathetic existence if you're actually going out of your way to get AFN radio.

Perhaps try an antenna like this?

Or this?

Perhaps this guy (or girl?) could help?

You need a signal preamp (sometiomes known as a signal booster) to hook between the car antenna and the back of the radio. It is powered by the cars electrical system.

If you can't find one at Yongsan, or at a car audio shop, Google it and order one online. Should cost about $20. I've used them over the years in the UAE and the USA. They work great if you already have a moderate strength signal to begin with.

Aren't those illegal, legal?

And won't they cause your man-parts to glow? Laughing

most car audio places have them - even the 'van guys' you see sides of the roads & at highway rest stops.

Good luck - although the news is often depressing, it is made up for by the funny public service ads.
