Hi,
Like the thread title says, my wife and I have someone from immigration coming to our home tomorrow for an F-5 visa interview. For those who have gone through this before, what should we expect as far a types of questions and so forth?
Thanks.

In my interview my wife was asked about the size of the house, our income etc and if I spoke Korean. My wife was honest and said a little. I understood the questions but he didn't ask me anything.

Immigration did the interview over the phone with my wife. As the other poster mentioned they asked relatively common questions about living arrangements, employment, a couple of health related questions about me, since I am a bit larger than the average Joe, what my long term plans for living in Korea were and what interests we had as a family. After listening to my wife talk on the phone for about 20 minutes they asked to speak with me and ask two questions to me on the phone that had to do with where I was from and how long I had been in Korea. My Korean speak skills suck to be honest, but my listening skills are good, so it wasn't anything that I couldn't understand or handle. Good luck. They will probably speak with your wife more than you, so don't sweat it.

I had absolutely nothing to do for the duration of the process. My wife did all the paperwork, and they only called her to do a quick phone interview. I never talked to anyone during the F2 process, and never during the F5 process.

Wish I could help, but for me, at least, the process was remarkably painless.

Only if they want to pull your chain to scare you. I was under the same impressions myself, and it never happened. I am going through the US immigration stuff for my wife these days and the process seems to be much more involved when looking back on what was needed for my F5 visa. Oh well, that's a different story. We have no long term plans to move back to the USA anyway. It would just be nice for my wife to be able to visit my home in the States a couple of times to see where I grew up and what it is like in the USA. I do hope your interview works out for you. It really isn't that big a deal, but different immigration people can occasionally be a pain in the rear if they are having a bad day. Not unlike other places in the world though. Good luck. Very Happy

Thanks for the info. Took about five minutes. Asked my wife how we had met, where I worked, and not much else. Asked me how long I had lived in Korea in Korean and I misunderstood the question, so he made a note on his form and didn't ask anything else. Said the visa should be ready in 10 days. Saw his list of other people to interview, and all of the names looked Chinese.
