Hey!
Does anyone have any experience working at this place, or know anything about it?
The working hours seems a tad long, but other than that the contract seems pretty ok. Can anyone shed any light?
Thanks! |

Hey there... you can do better.
Unlike many other large hagwon chains, Kids Club does not provide its franchises with a curriculum. This means that the curriculum is often a crapshoot providing much frustration for both teachers and students.
Those long hours? Well, after a couple of months of them, you'll be wishing to throttle your recruiter.
Seriously, you can do much better. Don't be fooled by the higher than normal salary that they might offer you. You'll end up getting paid less per hour than if you take a public school job or pretty much any other hagwon job out there, even if those jobs offer a lower salary. |

It's in Busan and it's in downtown so you could do a lot worse I guess?
Talk to a teacher working there and get as much details as possible. I know some people working at KIDS CLUB in other parts of Busan and loving it! But KIDS CLUB in the Saha area of Busan is one of he worst jobs available as I've met quite a few people that worked there and hated it.
Seomyeon? Do you mean the one in Jeonpo next to the elementary school? I went there for a job interview a while back and the school looks great but the director is not that honest. Mind you, just because they would screw over a Korean teacher doesn't mean that they would screw over the foreign teacher. |

Thats a great reply! Thanks, I always dread reading the replys becuase Im dreading something negative! The kids club in actually in Jin-gu, Im a bit familar with korea because I taught for a year before there but not so much with busan, I know there was a bit of agro with the previous teachers, but I trust my recruiter (mistake?) but Ive heard good things so fingers crossed!
We've sent our documents now though so we're tied in, but we're being positive and really after the year we've had at home can handle probably anything they throw at us!
We know its a great location though, after being in the sticks the last time I know that can make all the difference! |

Maybe it's time to start worrying.
You heard good things from the recruiter or from other people? And what did you hear?
And why did your recruiter not let you talk to the teachers there? Or at least to teachers that worked there the previous year?
Another question I would be asking is if your recruiter has placed any teachers at this school before or if you will be the first teacher they are placing there.
From what little information you have provided, my guess would be that the current teachers are getting fired (maybe to avoid paying their severance and airfare) and you are replacing them. No skin off your nose now but wouldn't it suck if 9 or 10 months from now, the same thing happened to you? |
