Got plenty of pork here, and its cheap. It isn't that difficult to build a BBQ pit. The ingredients to make your own sauce is out there.
It CAN be done. Just a basic menu, pulled pork BBQ, ribs (wet or dry), grilled chicken, cole slaw, baked beans. Maybe even some Brisket too.
You stick one of these in a hole in the wall place close to a subway station and you are sitting on a gold mine. |

I catered a group of 50 a few weeks back here in Songdo. I scored a Weber grill from Yongsan. We had potato salad (plain creamy dill style and a chipotle version too), pork and beans, an assortment of real US made chips, and some home made salsa with cilantro.
The sad part is that we were warned vigorously the day before the event that BBQing in a park is illegal. So, I spent the night cooking the chicken, brats and pork butt in the sauce with some beer. They loved it but it was not the same. Sad really. The saving grace was about 4 cases of Corona and some real lime juice I scored from a Halal store.
I still want to know what the laws are for BBQing and if the laws against it apply only to National Parks. |

As far as BBQing outdoors, I've seen the little gas ones in parks before. But I doubt that's what you're interested in. From what I've heard you can't coal grill in the park in Korea.
I hope someone does open a BBQ restaurant here. I'd be there regularly. Problem for me is I know next to nothing about how to do it well. |
