Right, I know deep down, somewhere inside me I have a teaching philosophy. I know what I like, what I don't like, what suits me and what I believe is good for students...but I'm pretty stumped about what to write in a teaching philosophy.
Should I write down everything that I would do in a class? Should I write down what I believe is the role of the teacher/student? There are so many questions.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance. |

--interactive approach
--student-centered learning
--multiple activities to reinforce the grammar and vocabularly taught...
--building speaking confidence
--high-energy atmosphere to convey the excitement of learning
maybe that'll get you started. |

This text is a decent general overview of the current state of the field.

This is the "bible" for my English Education students (Uni. students studying to become teachers).
Personally, I'm a big believer in massive, natural input, with lots of output as well. It's just personal experience from learning French (watched tons of movies, TV shows, radio before actually moving to the country and had a big head start on fluency).
In general, the "communicative approach", or CLT, is in vogue currently. It has a common sense appeal.
The field is still young, and most of the studies are being done in the U.S., so they might not necessarily apply to Korea, with its totally different cultural and linguistic environment. |
