I'm looking to stay in a love motel for the next 2 weeks in Seoul. I don't want to pay more than 40,000 per night, but I want it to be relatively clean, and I'd highly prefer a place that actually has sheets on the bed (and changes them).
Any suggestions?

| Ditto. Anyone know of a good, clean one near the airport? I have a friend getting in at like 9pm, and I don't really care to go into Seoul at that hour to find one. |

i just stayed at one that was 35,000 won per night... if you are coming from the airport (even at 9:00pm)... catch the shuttle bus that's headed towards seoul station (ktx station)... when you see the get off at the stop right before you get to seoul station (you should see a big starbucks on the right side)... you'll be put off right in front of jakob's sandwiches... walk on the sidewalk with the buildings being on your right (same direction as bus was moving)... you'll walk around a corner towards the right... the very first alley you see turn right... maybe 100 feet up there are two love motels.. . sorry about the dodgy directions... from the time leaving the airport til being in the room was less than an hour...
the rooms were clean, kinda small, refreshments, video library, 2 adult channels  and were very close to a lot of touristy sites that your friend might like to see... seoul's biggest market and the gate that burned up... |

Yeah, I'm looking for one that's a *little* less focused on the "love" aspect. I know they're out there, as I stayed in one my first night in Korea. |

Yeah, I'm looking for one that's a *little* less focused on the "love" aspect. I know they're out there, as I stayed in one my first night in Korea. |
You can usually tell by looking at the outside. The more decorated / ostentatious they are, the more likely they're into the love aspect. The less decorated, the less likely the rooms are designed for that purpose.
With that in mind, you should be able to find one and Captain Marlow sounds like he had a good suggestion. When you're paying 35,000, you're not going to get much more than a room with a bed and a TV. |

Well, I'd probably be willing to pay more like around 50,000, I just don't want to pay the 100,000 for a hotel. |

You can probably get a decent one for 50,000. If it costs less than that, there is a big chance that it might be dingy. I'd look for something in the 50-70,000 range if I were you. |

| Don't check into the ones that charge by the hour. If you try to check in at 7 and they ask you to come back at 11 that's a red flag. |

| One of the Korean teachers at my school was talking about an investigative report one of the shows did about how they don't change the sheets at many of the motels. Apparently they investigated like 19-20 motels and most of them weren't changing the sheets after the guests left. In one case, 3 different people had occupied a room after the reporter left and when he checked back in, the beds/pillows still had the same sheets. They just remake the beds. Pretty gross. |

Then again that would be fine if the customers were not having sex. Since all Koreans wait until after marriage to have sex. I know this because this is what my co-teacher told me. She also told me that the scenery on Cheju Island is more beautiful than Phuket. |

What they don't tell you is that if you go in and get a room for a long term stay, you can get a rate. I lived in a love hotel for 3 months at 300,000 a month. They will rent out by the month. Just check when you go in. Most of them are rarely, if ever, full. The average guest is there for a few hours only. So, they like to have a few long termers in there. However, this will probably not apply to the really nice new ones. Check the mid level ones out.
Ask about a monthly rate when you check in. It is cheaper than renting by the night for two weeks at the regular rate. They even let me use their laundry machine and changed the sheets whenever I asked them too. |
