I was wondering if anyone had experience in selling a car here in Korea. I'm about to sell mine but have no idea about how tranfering the title and registration to the buyer works....can anyone help me out? |

The buyer has to have insurance for the car before they can transfer ownership. You may be asked as the owner to produce your registered stamp (toejong) depending on the office that you deal with (in Seoul it may be less of a problem that in the countryside).
You may need to take a Korean friend or colleague with you as last time I did this (2 years ago) the forms were exclusively in Korean, i.e. no English and no English guidelines either.
The process itself is relatively quick, if you have everything lined up. The only other thing that might be required is the statutary[sp?] vehicle inspection document ~ one is needed every 2 years.
Good luck,

If the buyer is from the same district, you can both attend local office together to do it. You'll have to pay any unpaid taxes or dues outstanding at that time.
If the buyer is in a different district it's a little different.
You can go to your office, and then they go to theirs. The little red Korean stamp is used on the form: you may need to get one if don't have it. |
