Does anyone else have an incredibly smelly aircon? The aircon in my apartment smells like someone dumped a bucket full of cigarette butts in it and some sweaty gym clothes. Its so gross I dont even want to think about turning it on but its starting to get pretty hot. Does anyone else have this sick problem and if so what did you do?

There's a filter in it you're supposed to change every year, I think. Ask your ajashi (apartment guard) for help.

You can do it like this, if you got no Korean:
say, "Ajashi! A-pah-tuh air-con, tambay nemseh.' Wave your hand in front of your face with a look of unhappiness--you know, the international sign for 'stinky.'

He'll probably jabber away at you in Korean and tell you to go to home-plus and buy a new filter. Look confused at this point and say "o-to-kay?" and "moo-lie-oh." This means "how?" and "I don't know."

Hopefully ajashi takes pity on you and helps you out.

In addition to that, there is also a spray you can purchase to clean it out. The same stuff is sold in the automotive section at E-mart and Homever stores.

You should get in there with a towel and clean out whatever muck you can, in addition to the above hints.

No, no. You have to scream "OH-DU-KYE!!!" at the top of your lungs in your whiniest voice, then stamp your feet around and look pouty. Better yet, pay a teenage girl to do it for you. They're experts at getting ajoshi to do stuff.
