Why oh why do I have to sound like barry white on the day where I teach 3 hours of kindy.

Anyone got any suggestions for stuff to do when your vocal chords aren't in good shape?

Actually I've been drinking heaps of cold orange juice, which is helping. What I really want is some of my mom's hot lemon honey drink.

Drink tea. I think orange juice is a bad idea: too acidic. Also milk is a bad idea, bacteria isn't good for a sore throat either.

Some good herbal teas should do the trick.

Yeah, if you have a cold, orange juice is OK. I don't care what my Korean friends in the past have to say about that, but it jst makes ME feel better.
With a sore throat though, you want to keep your vocal cords loose and your throat needs to stay relaxed as well, so drink hot liquids...tea, water with lemon in it, yuja cha is great for this kind of thing, too!
I suppose this is one good thing about working at a uni...the students here know how to take care of themselves and will rarely cough or sneeze on you.

Hot water, orange juice and honey will cure whatever may ail you. drink as much as you can, as hot as you can stand it. (obviously don't burn yourself)

Isn't there supposed to be some rum in there as well?

No voice + kindy kids = COLORING TIME!

Yes, I know, Kimcheeking would have them studying for their TOEFL tests, but I prefer to take it a little easier on the younguns. Wink

Oh, and Koreans believe that ginger tea is another good thing to drink for your throat.

Unfourtantly I only see these kids twice a week so I had to do some verbal work with them today, so I have a very sore throat now.

Most of my 5 year olds were sick so we did some coloring. One of them fell asleep but the korean teacher kept insisting on waking her up.

Just 8 more elementary classes to go.

Can you get your hands on one of those portable microphones? We've got them for when we've got colds or just don't want to have to yell over the noisy kids. Its a godsend when I've got a sore throat.
