I have no interest in dating any of my current or past co-workers, but are there any places out there that do have workplace dating policies?
A reminder- if you do choose to date a co-worker, you are playing with fire. |

Isn't the workplace the number one place where married couples meet?
Yes, that is playing with fire. |

a lot of places have this kind of rule but in the case of a hakwon there isn't much they can do about it. when i first came here i worked at a hakwon and two teachers (american guy, korean girl) started dating, even though it said this was forbidden in the contract. however, the school needed them, so there was really nothing the owner could do. they are happily married now, too.
sadly, if you work for a big company, there might not be such a happy outcome. i know a couple of guys (both in korean-korean couples) who have to keep their relationships secret because its likely that one of them (most likely the girl) would be forced to relocate to the jeju-do/DMZ/wherever branch, thus splitting them up. |

Don't date co-workers, particularly if they are Korean. Have enough sense to do your relationship shopping somewhere else. |

Anyone ever told they can't date co-workers?
What, you mean apart from my co-workers telling me that?
I'd call it "won't" more than "can't"

I met my wife at a hakgwon and married her while I was working there. My director was a hardcase but he didn't even blink an eye about us getting married. Gave generously at the wedding, too. |

WELL, I think if you and the co-worker like each other, it is cool. Word might get out.
Would you rather have the one you like, or a job you can easily walk away from to get another?
I'd go for the babe any day. |

I've heard that it is in some people's contract, but in none of the places that I've worked. It happens, and I'm actually attending a wedding this fall. It's generally my rule to never date within the workplace. I want to look forward to seeing my gf. I don't want to go home and talk shop (inevitable in these circumstances). I also don't want any other considerations interfering with my ability to negotiate or walk away from a job. |

Yep, it was in my contract at KFC Hyunjae. Interestingly, health care and pension wasn't. Good to see they've got priorities. |

Well, I accepted a position with HYUNJAE school, but I am seriously doubting that choice. Now, I am worried. |

I'v heard of couples hooking up in concentration camps, even.
For me, that puts things in perspective. |

Steamy one-off's in the ladies bathroom? Of course. Everybody does it. Actual dating? No way! I'm married. |

same with my first hagwon in daejeon. actually, our director didnt wants us foreigners to have any contact w/ the k staff.
a fellow foreign co-worker of mine aksed the head teacher aka the director's spineless foreigner henchman hypothetically if the 2 of us decided to date what would happen. he flat out told us he'd turn us in. |
