For six years my mother has hassled to be buy her some amethysts that she can make some jewelry out of.. and for six years I've had the "yeah, no problem" attitude...
Next thing you know, I have less that two weeks left in the country and I still haven't done it (sorry mom)..
Anyone have any siggestions where to go? She just wants the stones so that she can get the settings and such made back home.
Please help me not let my mother down. |

I'm sure the prices are much higher than they would be in areas with fewer tourists, but Insadong (are you in Seoul?) has a number of shops. Pieces range from earrings and necklaces to bigger, unfinished chunks of amethyst. |

Insa-dong has them. One place in particular sells hollowed-out rocks filled with hundreds of them inside, in their original setting (in nature, i.e. attached to rock). The big one was six million won, but smaller ones were cheaper by a few million. |

Ask a Korean friend to look online for you. There must be a Korean site. The stones come from down near Ulsan, place called Eongyang/Onyang. |
