I just went in to try and get my new visa only to be told I needed a criminal record check done in two weeks. Now I admit I've known for a few months now that I should get my criminal record check done , but I'm South African. Let me explain.

You have more chance of having an orgy in a nunnery than getting the South African police force to do anything right. With that in mind I thought I'd wait until I got home and sort it out the official way : Nepotism and greasing palms.

Anyway my Canadian friend managed to get a visa with a 6 month leeway period to sort his out , but far from give me my visa they've charged me 60k for a 2 month extension , taken my passport and alien card and offered it back the DAY before I'm due to fly home , if I'm kind enough to travel 1 and a half hours by bus again to emmigration , and wait in a 3 hour que again.

Why in 31 years of exstance am I yet to have one single beurocratic experience that isn't beyond tolerable and torterous. Why do we tolerate this nonsense ?
