|
|
Hello,
I am considering marrying a girl I have been seeing for some time now. She lives in the Philippines and she has a child. If we marry, I know that I can bring her here to live with me, but can I bring her daughter also? Would I have to adopt her daughter before she could come here?
Does anyone have any knowledge on this?
Thanks,

You have 2 issues to deal with.
1) DSW and CFO in the Philippines may give you problems bringing the child out of the country without the biological father's permission (written / notarized). You may face similar issues getting it a passport as well.
2) bringing the child here (getting an F3 visa) will require proof of guardianship or family relationship. It may be easier to become the legal guardian rather than an international adoption.
IF you are willing to wait until SHE is here, and the 2 of you go to immigration together she has the family relationship and an F3 so it may be easier to get a visa confirmation number to bring the child at a later date.
Your 1st obstacle will be #1.
