To any of you who have worked in Mokpo or the general vicinity: How long does it take to get to various other places in Korea? Busan, Seoul, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, etc.
I'm going to be working on Jindo Island, and Mokpo is the closest sort of transportation hub, and the place nearby that people are most likely to have worked, so that's why I'm asking about that location.
Not really looking for any specific destinations (except Seoul and Busan), but if you've worked in Mokpo and traveled *anywhere*, just give me a travel time estimate. |

Oh, and I'm looking for public transportation times, not driving times. |

Isn't there a new KTX line that goes to Mokpo? I ask as a question and not a statement because I don't know if it is running yet and I am too lazy to check the web.
That would put you quickly in range of Seoul (~2 hours) or Busan. |

If that link doesn't work for you....
http://korail.com/
That's the train website...look for the English section...schedule section...get the info.
I'll tell ya...going to Busan...it's brutal....three train option...seven and a half hours roughly...plus one transfer.
Even the KTX to Seoul...close to four hours...one transfer...and about 65,000 won......one way. |

The bus to Busan takes five hours from Mokpo because it stops at many places in between. There's an express bus from Gwangju that takes 3 hours and 30 minutes.
An express bus to Seoul takes 4 hours, 20 minutes. |

An express bus from where to Seoul? From Gwangju, or Mokpo? |
