|
|
The GEPIK contract states, "6. If Employee completes the Term of Employment without the intention to renew and leaves Korea within 10 days from the expiration date, the Employer shall pay the airfare for Employee's one way return flight."
It seems to me that this reads as the school should be purchasing/paying for my flight up front. However, the school says that I must purchase my own ticket and they will reimburse the price of the ticket at a later date.
So, who is correct? |

They will pay everything owed you on or before your last day of employment. No worries! |

how much freedom do you have when choosing a ticket?
For example, the cheapest ticket I can find to fly home is $1500, however there is a much more convenient ticket with less stops for $2000.
Am I free to select the $2000 ticket or does it kind of have to be the cheapest one you can find within reason? |

They must get you a DIRECT flight to the closest airport to your home. |

so basically I have three choices
(1) Korea - China - London - Glasgow, Scotland using Air China = $1100 ( 2stops, 20 hours travel time)
(2) Korea - Dubai - Glasgow using Emirates = $1500 (1stop) 20 hours total travel time
(3) Korea - London Heathrow - Glasgow using Korean Air = $2000 (1 stop) 15 hours. (MOST DIRECT)
So using Korean Air is the most direct flight to the nearest airport, however it is the most expensive by almost double. Are you saying that contractually I must chose the Korean Air flight and they HAVE to pay for it ? |

2000 sounds about right. Shouldn't be a problem. |

KLM do it as well
Soeul - Amsterdam or Paris - Glasgow/Edinburgh.
Contractually they are obligated to pay the most direct flight to the airport closest to your hometown.
Check transfer times at Dubai as well. If it's too tight you might miss your flight. I've ran through Dubai airport twice now to get on my plane not fun. 1:30 transfer just wasn't enough. Plane landed and I had 20 minutes to clear and get on the next one.
Don't take any shit like you can catch the train from London to Glasgow.
A few years back I did - BKK - Vienna - Vienna - Amsterdam - Amsterdam - Luton - Kings cross - Newcastle
Back home in under 24hours. That was hard work. |
