Thailand and Spain.

Loved Thailand but the money just wasn't enough. Hated Spain because I was stuck in the boonies with hardly any work. It was like being a prisoner for nine months.

Yes....
Food and other items were exceptionally cheap compared to the prices in Korea......and most of the GCC has a tax-free salary base, so you keep more of what you earn Wink

Yes and No, I got paid about 2000$ US a month. It was about the same.
Less things to spend your money on. No problem getting booze. Plenty of Russian hookers in Dubai too.

The Czech Republic, England, Italy and South Korea.

I worked mostly privates (70/30) in Italy, so earned about the same as here. Prices were a little lower in Southern Italy though, so I seemed to save more than here anyway.

The Czech Republic was most fun, but wages were poor.

England, high living costs, not the place to teach English as a foreign language.

South Korea was better for me in 2002, as the salary wasn't much less than now, but living costs were much lower.

Taiwan and here. I much prefer Korea to Taiwan. I'm not a fan of tropical weather and earthquakes.

Germany. I much prefer Germany to Korea, but the pay is better in Korea than Germany. From the perspective of lifestyle though, Germany beats Korea hands down. No contest.

The Czech Republic, K-town, and Japan.

Czech was tops by far, but like mentioned above, pay isn't so great.

I was training in England to teach ESL, but couldn't wait and eventually just upped sticks and sodded off to Thailand. Had a good 2 and a half years there before here.

Was doing one of the governement sponsored schemes in England that sprouted up to work with immigrants and refugees, but couldn't take the shit weather and lack of excitement anymore.

Thanks for the response about the gulf, Lastat and Fishhead.

Taiwan and here. I went to Taiwan in January 2003 on a 2-month tourist visa, extended it for a month 3 times (6 months total is the limit). I overstayed about a year and a half, paid a 400-or-so-buck fine and have been here since January 2005 with the exception of a work-visa run in March 2005 and a tourist-visa run a little over a week ago. Haven't been back to Canada for five and a half years.
