My husband and I would like to take a romantic relaxing vacation this August or September for about a week. We're expecting a baby in January, so it'll kind of be like a last time away thing. I'd really like to go to a breathtaking beach somewhere and relax and eat good food.
Does anyone have any suggestions based on where they've gone? |

Boracay is my choice, forget what you hear about the hordes of Korean tourists there. They are there, but that doesn't mean you have to be with them.
Expect to pay a big premium to travel this year thanks to high demand and even higher gas prices. |

| Well if you want deserted beaches and real relaxement, then forget Boracay and head to Palawan. |

I would recommend Candi Dasa in Bali. It has all the beautiful aspects of the island without the huge horde of tourists you find in Kuta.

It has beautiful beaches & awesome scuba diving & snorkelling. Perfect place to do as much or as little as you like. I spent a very long romantic holiday there... |

Filipino food isn't that great. |

Wow, thanks for that link...that's a definite possibility!
ETA... ouch, I just read that Candidasa is not suitable for swimming. True?

 It was fine when I was there (which was, admittedly, about 5 years ago). Where did you read that? That would be strange if true, and also a real shame as the beaches were lovely. |

| I suggest Krabbi in Southern Thailand. I would stay on Au Nang beach. It's less touristy and the beaches are much better than Phuket, Kho Samui. |

I read it on a few sites. They said that the beach has suffered because of coral picking and has eroded. I guess I should see if the sites are regularly updated. If I can find the sites again, I'll post the links. |

Good suggestion. I was in Au Nang during my single days and it was very nice... |

Thailand is good, but has gotten too touristy and expensive. Plus Thais are not as outwardly friendly as Filipinos.
If you haven't done Boracay yet, I highly recommend that you do. |

Boracay looks nice, but are there quiet places along the beach? I keep seeing pictures of the beach with tonnes of people there. I guess I'd be going in August or September... |
