Hello,

I've just starting poking around, researching for a new camera. I like taking good pictures and have some experience with basic photography but at the same time I don't need to over do it with a camera, and I don't want to spend a fortune either. At the same time I don't mind spending a bit if I'm getting good value for my money.

I have come across:

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W80
Canon PowerShot SD1000
Samsung 8.2MP Digital Camera (L100)
Samsung Digimax L73 7MP with Advance Shake Reduction Optical Zoom (hey when in rome right)

Does anyone have any experience with any of these cameras?

Thanks!

I have a canon powershot series camera and realy enjoy it.

Check out dpreview.com

That website has more info than you probably wanted to know. Also cnet.com has some good basic reviews.

have you checked out the olympus stylus range? Good if you are the more active type, waterproof and shockproof.

The Panasonic range is meant to be the best for night photos (bars and such)

While for all round usability and quality can't beat the canon IXUS range (called the powershot in the states). I like the S/SD series

Thanks...

I'm liking the sounds of the Olympus 790 SW...most of the reviews dont seem too keen on the picture quality though but most of these reviews seems geared toward people looking to blow up their pictures or do more with them than the average person...

anyone used one of these?

I have a 9 month old Olympus Stylus 780. The image quality is great and the modes make everything idiot proof. However, the video quality is utter shite! That's why I switched to the Canon PowerShot SD950 IS. Now this camera is absolute aces. Awesome pictures, features, videos. Hey, if you're interested, I'll sell you my Olympus 780 for W100,000 including a 2GD xD card. Let me know.
