Hey, is it possible to play WoW on a Korean server? What would I need?
Also, if you've done it as an english speaker, is it even worthwhile? Can you guild up easily? |

| My understanding is that you pay about double per month for WoW here than in the States. K friends tell me it's like 30k a month, compared with 14.99 in America. Not saying they're correct, but that's what I've been told. |

I played on American servers on the Australian time servers. Had decent ping (averaged 250 to 300). I haven't played it in a while as I don't play any more.
I'd imagine typing fast in Korean would be a challenge, as well as Ventrilo. I'd think you'd have to be nearly fluent in Korean to be an effective player. |

I can't totally disagree. I upgraded my comp and am playing Age of Conan atm. Had to import a video card but am having fun with it.
on edit: you can play wow on American servers in Korea. Even though I don't play I still have an active account. |

Your best bet is to download/install the US version of WoW and play on US servers.
If you're planning to play at PC Bangs, install WoW to an external hard drive.
IIRC - You can connect to US servers through the Korean client by editing the config.wtf file - but all text etc will still be in Korean |

Of course you can. I played a bit when I first got here, but everyone is on at different times. You won't be able to raid or anything unless you get up at like 4 or 5am. |

You can play on the American servers with the Korean software, I used to do it all the time when I studied here in 2005. You gotta open up one of the files in textpad and change some setting. It's pretty easy to do.
The biggest problem is, that of course all the in game text is in Korean. Annoying when items drop and you can't read what it is. |

Why would you play with the Korean software when you can easily download the US/Oceania version? |

I play on the US servers using software I bought at home.
Only problem I had was setting up my accounts. The site does not allow account management from Korea. I'm certain you could do it using an American proxy server; however, I simply have one of my friends in Canada who also plays the game (and knows my password/credit card particulars) to do account management when needed. |

This is more or less a PC bang issue. If you could install the US version to a pc bang computer (I actually did this once) it would take forever, and you'd never have a guarantee that someone wouldn't be sitting at that computer the next time you came in.
I like someone's idea of installing the US version to an external HDD...but is it fast enough (do you play off the externall HDD?) |

I've edited my account from Korea (i.e., turned it off when I wanted to, etc). |
