For my one week summer vacation, I want to go some place tropical in Asia with beautiful beaches and do nothing but relax - read, rent a scooter, snorkel and sip fruit smoothies. I've been to Thailand and though I loved the beaches I visited there, I want to go to another country.

Fiji? Malaysia? Vietnam? Phillippines? What other Asian countries have beautiful beaches?

Yeah, I hear Boracay's beaches are amazing...but I don't know if it's for me. Too many people and too many mega resorts, maybe?

I hear that the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia are supposed to be nice. Or how about the Hainan Islands in China - anyone ever been?

I'm sure TigerBeer or some other global jetsetter will say otherwise, but I'll go out on a limb and suggest:

Cox's Bazar (Bangladesh)

Never been there, but really want to go. It looks like the sort of lazy beach place that has everything you want.

I assume that by mega resort you mean something with more than 20 rooms?

http://www.boracay.com/

The average hotel/resort on Boracay is 20ish rooms with many under 15 and only a few (like the Regency) over 50.

Take a google earth at it and judge for yourself or have a peek at a mega resort next to boat station 2.
