I rarely poke my head into this forum anymore because I see the same
things repeated again and again and again. Things like: Will I go to
prison if I do a runner? Are SLP and Wonderland good schools? I live
on Koje Island, where is the Starbucks? Where can I buy a mobile
phone?

Don't get me wrong, I know the search function on this obsolete board
is totally useless, so I'm not blaming anyone for these posts. I just think
there should be a forum where you need 2+ years before you can write.

Yeh, cause someone is going to wait around two years to be able to post on a forum on Dave's.

Ah, now I understand. You basically want a forum where you could kinda dictate the content and if anyone says anything that doesn't agree with your little Hitler philosophy of life you could somehow get them banished.

Yeh, you and every other control freak with low self esteem on Dave's wants this. But then it would pretty much just be you posting about how self important you are with no other users wouldn't it?

No need for a locked forum. Just make the move over to the new place where, if you are an expat in korea, you can communicate more freely.

But what you don't seem to understand is that this poster doesn't want a forum where you can "communicate freely." He just wants a forum where he communicates and everyone listens to him with baited breath.

Why are you taking this so personally? I don't think it's such a bad idea, actually. I'm nowhere near a control freak, but I wouldn't mind avoiding posts like yours at the adults' table. Laughing

2 years is nothing - try 7 or 10 or 15 years...

and people wonder on here why I am such a "*beep*"....

Why don't you and "Cohiba" start a blog or something then? You could call it the "Adult's Table." There...problem solved.

^ Dude, I have no bone to pick with you, except for your indulgent use of the smiley face. But hey, I'm no control freak, so if you want to continue posting row after row after row of smiley faces, fill yer boots.

Good idea, Cohiba. Maybe not a locked forum, but something to separate vet discussions vs. newbie questions.

So where does it end? First you are dictating appropriate use of smiley faces and next you are telling people they can't have an avitar of a person with a bottle up their arse. Like I said, if ya all don't like Dave's the Internet has got plenty of room for more. Invest your time, energy and money in a site and then you can dictate how many smiley faces are appropriate. Until then, sit at the adult's table and shut ya pie hole. I don't see much competition out there for Dave so maybe he isn't the dumb arse so many self proclaimed ESL consultants on the site seem to think he is.

I think a forum for newly arrived to Korea is a good idea - for the same run of the mill questions we all seem to ask when we first come to korea, but it might be much easier to just have an all emcompassing sticky for those frequent questions.

The problem I see, is few if anyone who has been here for sometime will bother to browse a seperate forum full of those first timer questions, and those in need of answers won't find the advice they have sought.

Trolls would love it though...a place to reign freely...

No, I don't think you do. It sounds very much like he wants to simply get away from the "newbie" topics that pop up weekly, and get to OTHER topics that vets might wish to discuss. I wouldn't mind such a forum, so I wouldn't have to wade through pages of repetitive topics.
