Twould probably be best to ask my bank, which I will when I get the time, but I thought I'd check here first.
I'm curious about being able to make payments on credit card debt/student loans, etc. while in Korea. So, basically, I'm looking for the possibility of being able to transfer funds from a Korean bank to a checking account back home, or just being able to use my account in Korea to pay it off directly.
I don't know if it would change anything, but I will most likely be in Daegu. |

I'm sure someone else has found a convenient way to pay directly from a Korean account, but I haven't. I transfer from my Korean account to my American account and pay American credit card etc. from the American account. |

Wire your K-money to your American account and pay your bills online just like you would back at home. At Woori, it takes 24 hours for the wire to go through - quick and easy. |

Can't you set up debit orders like any civilised country and then pay it into your bank account and let it take care of itself ? |

where you from?...
in the US internet online banking has only started to become popular more recently. I think it will vary from bank to bank. Does your bank offer online banking services (and do they charge for it)? You'd have to check it out with them.
I am in North Dakota right now and I believe my bank has online checking and with my type of checking acct it is free, but others get charged for it. I've never used it so I don't know to what types of companies you can make payments to. I'll have to check it out before I come....
...I should also be in Daegu also? |

In the US, I use Paytrust dot com. All my bills are sent to them, scanned, and put online. I am notified by email when a new bill arrives. I set up my bank account through their site and also set up automatic payments. You can even issue a check to anyone through their site. The monthly fee is minimal. I love it. Two thumbs up. |

I use Bank of America. I'll switch to a smaller bank when I get back home, but for here its convenient enough. I check all of my bills online and just pay directly through internet banking. Or I use bill pay (an option through Bank of America) to pay someone directly, you just enter the amount, the person, their address, and BOA sends them a check.
The above option sounds great, though. |

Is this a common feature for only the bigger banks...or would you say that you can pretty much do it at any bank in Korea?
EDIT: ...because this seems like the most harmless route, and probably what I'd want to do. |
