Is it just me or has this year seemed unusually dry in Korea? It seemed like in my first three years here, things were much wetter this time of year and earlier.

yeah, I've been curious about that myself.

I remember the rain starting about this time. Weather reports forecast more days without rain than with in the next ten days.

The rain is in the Midwest of the USA this year. I noticed this pattern where precipitation concentrates on a different part of the world each season with random variations. Sometimes Asia or Europe gets all the rain or snow of a season while other times, America gets most of it.

Start knocking on wood now. Once it comes, it will not stop. I have noticed lately that down on the Han River in some parts where there are enterances to the walking/bicycle paths, there are also flood gates, especially near where I live, there are thick iron doors up in the ceiling at the enterance tunnel. I wonder how high the river can get. Last week when it rained, I recall the river had risen significantly. That was only after two days of rain. Imagine what 10 days straight of heavy rainfall could do? I don't want to know.

I really hate the rain. Nothing good happens and people steal umbrellas a lot when it rains here. That really makes me want to start headbutting people.

The rainy season officially started a few days ago. Also, it is supposed to be a record hot summer in Korea. I think this is the calm before the rain and unbearable heat come. Hope I am wrong, but I doubt it.

According to the newspaper, the rainy season started on Tuesday last week. That report said this year's rainy season would just be spotty rain followed by sunny skies. Not typical rainy season weather.

We had one like this back in '96 (?) and the result was the reservoirs all dried up and we had to be careful about how much water we used.

Well, last week the heavy cloud ordinance rolled in which had the typical monsoon look and time of arrival but it turned out to be a dud. Rained for two, three days on and off, drizzle. That usually goes on non-stop for two or three weeks. People become amphibious. Good weather for a duck.

Korea desertifying!

My co-teacher was worried about the "drought". I guess we need a lot more rain around here. I live very near the largest source of freshwater in the country. Everybody panic!

I think both May and June were unusually cool this year. Normally, there are some pretty hot days (but with cool nights) in those months.

I've thought this year was unusually cool as well, I was worried I was getting acclimatized to this bullshit!
